This will be the first of very many kilts. Does it matter what this one is - no. What matters is that you get one and wear it. Once you are used to it then you have a whole lifetime to decide on the next one and the next one and and and...
Oh, yes - Welcome to XMarks.

I urge you to think and wait for a while before you buy a kilt. Save up your money and buy a real, handmade, heavyweight wool kilt. While you're waiting, research kilts and tartan. Look at swatches of actual tartan fabric in different color schemes of YOUR clan tartan. Then, once you are absolutely sure of what specifically you want, order it. If you do this thing right the first time you won't have to do it again.
FWIW, if you're dealing with a local kilt store "that doesn't supply McTavish kilts", you're dealing with the wrong folks!
Best of Luck!
David
I agree with David 100%. If you've waited 10 years do do this then there is no need to rush now.

And I am now the proud owner of a Scottish Pride Tartan kilt! The people at the store also gave me a great discount on a Sporran. So pleased. Also very proud to say that I wore it out of the store "Traditionally"
