Very jealous of you right now. I grew up in Michigan where we had great winter scenes but now I live in Tennessee and it doesn't feel like winter yet, maybe next month.

    Robert,
thank you the pix of your beautiful family and near fairy-tale settings.

Living as I do in the northern bits of the US, we're well accustomed to winter 'environs' (although the brutal winds and cold tend to cut down on the magic and add to the 'killing season' a bit, as it's not uncommon to get to -30*f with the windchill).

Your pix, however, are full of such joy. The exterior shots truly look like a wonderland, and the interiors radiate warmth with the smell of fresh bread (maybe a rich soup) and warm cognac (which would explain the sleeping kindern )

As a small one, my parents would take us on the ritual Christmas tree hunt, no matter the weather. I recall a few that would rival the "Battle of the Bulge" for duration and temperature. I still remember them fondly. My parents now take my son on the ritual tree hunt. I hope he experiences a fraction of the joy I did.

Again, thank you for such wonderful, personal pictures.

That picture reminds me of being sent as a boy to the woodpile with "Don't worry about the cold, that wood will warm you twice_ once chopping and again burning". I think I can safely say I was never as well dressed while wielding an ax.

On another note, it's chilly here, but I just left your pictures on the monitor display, and your beautiful family warmed the whole place.

Perhaps one of the greatest posts I've read in some time! Thank you Robert!

It is rain and Snow today. Hopefully turning to all Snow tonight. All of the ski resorts will be open tomorrow. We love the tourist.

No doubt the tree you picked was the best.

Robert thanks for once again sharing your family adventures with us. What a lovely day for Christmas tree hunting. It looks like the girls are well on their way to getting the tree properly decorated.
