Billiards?
Does anyone else up here shoot pool / own a table / own a nice cue? Care to share?
I have a Meucci 97 - 11 that I've had for 12 years and the shaft finally started to warp. I am getting a new shaft, but have my eye on something else (a fantastic Xmas present perhaps)... the Ultra Piston 4 in red. 18.5 oz weight, 12 MM shaft (turned down from 12.75 MM), leather wrapped grip, black dot shaft.
My OTHER baby is somethnig I've wanted for 20 years. When we (FINALLY) finished the basement on our house, I finally had enough space / a reason (excuse?) to get it. I have few hobbies / obsessions outside of work (and playing hockey), so it's not like I splurge on this kind of stuff every day. Also, I am of the mindset to get something nice and never have to replace it (or second guess your decision) and this is something I've saved for years to get. Tan cloth (to blend with the lower level paint), Mahogony stain, black leather pocket... the Olhaussen "Hampton" table (courtesy of their "build a table" software on their site):
Anyone else care to share pictures of your Billiard dreams / realities? I'm very curious if anyone else up here is a pool nut like me.

Love to shoot pool, but living in an apartment I can't very well have my own table! I do have a cue stick, but it's a cheapo - really just enough to get me by without having to use the warped ones at the pool halls.
Your equipment is lovely, Rocky!

ANY cue is better than a warped bar cue.
I used to live in an apartment above a pub (when I was fresh out of college) and they had a pool table in the pub. I used to jokingly state that I had a pool table in "my living room" as I was a pretty regular fixture in the place (mostly to socialize, not to drink all the time).
Let's see a picture of your cue Leathern! I can honestly say that I've seen 'cheap' cues that had more detail than high priced cues... It all depends on the taste of the owner.
Or alternatively, what is your 'dream cue'? Do you have a model / brand that you'd love to someday own?

We have a rather modest 7.5 foot table on layaway for Christmas that will adorn our basement and this year my son and I plan to turn our own cues using tiger and birds eye maple. We'll see how that turns out!

Awesome idea on the Cues! Keep us updated!
I noticed the same thing! We have already picked up the maple for the bottom half and still need thinner for the upper portions. I hope we'll start turning them after the new year. By all means I'll keep you updated!

We have a Brunswick Balke Collender St. Bernard Mission table (circa 1908-1909) similar to this one: http://www.brunswickbilliards.com/ou...ssion6leg.html
It is the centerpiece of our trophy/game room, and great fun to play on. It's nice to shoot a game with friends or family in the comfort of your own home
