			A Wee Introduction

I would like to say HELLO to everyone on the forumMy name is Grant and I'm from Glasgow

Ive been visiting this forum for a wee while now and always meant to join.
 Now at last ................I have
. I would like to say how much I have enjoyed it over the last year or so .Its been Informative ,Nostalgic and at times very amusing.
Coming from Ex military and Highland parents Ive always Had Great respect for the kilt and it only seem like yesterday that my auld Man and his friends
would get together and the whisky and the pipes would come out .

I can still smell the of whisky mixed with the scent of mothballs as I'm writing this

I first started to wear the kilt around about 1990 any old excuse would do. At around this time Glasgow was voted the european city of Culture and I just seemed to get caught up on the euphoria of the whole thing .

At this time I worked in a bar in Glasgow that embraced the whole folk scene with open arms. The pub was full of Traditional Musicians and Scottish Poets , Writers and Artisans.. It was a great atmosphere to work in and a great time to be in Glasgow . With so many like minded people

So i could be seen strutting around Glasgow and all over at this time in amongst all the ravers with the kilt on it was Brilliant
At that time it was an old Black Watch Tartan that i wore.

My Mother told me one day that she was so proud of me wearing the Kilt
that she would like to buy me the full highland dress...........Even better by this time I was managing a Bar in glasgow and would have the kilt on at any excuse ..........sadly to say that my Kilt shrunk in the wardrobe
and my Mother is no longer with me ..........so since october this year I made a promise to myself that no matter what it took I would wear the kilt this year
so i have have shred 3.1/2 stone took 6" off my waist and tomorrow night at "THE BELLS" I will join with you all hauf in hand suitably attired
and wish you fae Me the Wife and Weans .A guid New Year .SLANJE
