Not To Stray To Far Off-Topic...but....

I wish my own NCO's had exhibited such care when I was at Benning. I ended up with a nasty blister from a road march, was sent to an aide station, and in the end nearly lost my leg from the knee down to the early stages of gangrene (the doc's believe an unsterilized instrument was used to treat me)!

Cost me a career in the military....

Okay, back to the topic at hand (vintage photos)

Very interesting that the Seaforth Highlanders of Vancouver should dress their pipers like those of the Cameron Highlanders. Note the crossbelt hardware and dirk, like those worn by Cameron pipers, and the sporran, like those worn by the ORs of the Camerons (save for the badge).

Here's some Cameron pipers. Here the Cameron style dirk, quite ornate, lacking knife and fork, can be seen. Note that the Cameron pipers normally wear a different sporran from that worn by the rest of the regiment. The piper's sporran is seen here:

Here you can see both the piper's sporran and the OR's sporran, the latter which is worn by the Canadian fellow above:

Here the distinctive Cameron crossbelt hardware and piper's sporran are clearly visible. This photo was taken during the short period 1946-1959 when the Cameron pipers wore Royal Stewart tartan:

In contrast to the dress of the Seaforth Highlanders' pipers, seen here worn both by the Pipe Major and by the dancers:

Thank you. The badge on the sporran & collar insignia were difficult for me to clearly make out (due to the size of the photo & my failing eyesight I'm afraid ), hence why I'm unsure

If anyone else can shed light upon this individual, or have thoughts on the subject, I'd appreciate & welcome the information.

I assure you Richard, that the service information that was included with the photo / provided for the gentleman is correct.
    Other than that...
