I used to walk from work to my kid's baby-sitter's house. I had to cross the railroad tracks, one day I lost my footing and I was more concerned about my laptop in my backpack than staying upright. I landed on one knee and then onto my back. I cut the hell out of my knee and palm and I found out the next day, lost my cell phone. I looked for it the next day and could not find it. The following day there was a fresh layer of rock and there was no way I was going to find it.

I'm here where it doesn't snow but I do have to march around while playing pipes, often on slick waxed floors etc, so I had my ghillies resoled as soon as I bought them with Vibram soles.

They're also quiet, handy for when the piper is a surprise and I have to sneak around.

Since I live in the world's capital for freezing rain, I have a complete collection of such products. In approximate order of effectiveness with yours, two other possible icy surface walkers are called 'Yaktraxs' and, my personal favourites, for the ice storm pros, 'StabilIcers'. The Yak items use coil springs and are easier on floors than the Icers, which will definately destroy anything indoors except carpeting.

Thanks for all the concern for my health. I am fine. The story is worth the fall as I am sure it will be repeated for many christmases to come.

I have seen yak tracks, actually almost purchased them before. maybe now i will.
