Hold it....I think I can put an end to this whole thread by just posting that photo of God wearing his kilt. I know that I saw it somewhere..... Ah yes, if I recall correctly, he was standing with Lord Baden Powell in his kilt. Now let me see...

    I found it!

On a serious note... There is one small thing about this forum that has always bothered me just a little- the heavy hand that the moderators seem to think they need to take with serious discussions. The vast majority of threads are "This girl liked my kilt" or "Some idiot in Wal Mart did something annoying" and those kinds of threads are fine. But ones like this help us to genuinely get to know each other- they help solidify us as a community. All too often when we start to actually talk openly and honestly, the thread gets closed down. Well I think that this thread has been a real positive thing for this board. We have been able to talk as people- not sterilized, not deleted- and I for one have found it to be a very enlightening experience.

Thank you, moderators, for the job that you do- and for letting this thread go on and letting us have this discussion! This kind of thread shows that we as a community have the maturity to discuss a potentially divisive subject matter in a constructive way. Open communication like this really helps to build the comaradarie among us. I'd say this thread proves the quality of the people here, and more conversations like this in the future should be encouraged with slightly less moderation- like was done in this thread. Old friendships have become stronger (this post was inspired by a PM conversation between Bugbear and myself) and new ones have grown- Biblemonkey! This is by far one of the best threads this forum has had since I joined 3 years ago.

    Well said.

Perhaps we should limit our use of PC anything to discussions on Prince Charlie coatees.

As I said once before about a set of other threads, it is impossible to have a discussion about religion without discussing religion. While I could guess that those quoting specific scripture in their posts most likely believe that scripture they quoted from, that would really only be a guess. No one, even those that used such quotes, ever said that their religion was better than any other religion, which is the prohibition I read in Rule #5.

One thing that happens on internet forums is that we all want to make out point. So when there was one post which a number of us thought crossed the line, many people posted about that post. Sure one post could have sufficed, but that just wouldn't be what the internet is all about. I did think is oddly comical that for a few pages, we were discussing having a discussion while not actually having the discussion we were discussing, but that is probably just my own sense of the absurd.
