Sizing Prince Charlie
Well, the fabric for Mark's Prince Charlie jacket and vest arrived and I am about to alter all the pattern pieces to fit a tall size 44. I have never seen a Prince Charlie in person, so I need a little advice on how it should fit. I am basing the waistline measurement on the natural waistline, not the one where men normally wear their belt, as this is how the kilt will be constructed, per Barb T's instructions.
Does the bottom button on the vest go right at the waistline, which is two inches below the top of the kilt? I have looked at several pictures online and see that the vest needs to cover the top of the kilt, but I am not sure how far down it should come. And should the back of the vest also be two inches below the top of the kilt?
Also, the back of the jacket has a seam where the tails attach. Is that supposed to be right at the waist?
And last, how much longer is the jacket compared to the vest, in front?
Thanks for your help!
