Thanks for the additional vendors to check out.

In no way is this thread meant to disparage any vendor. All I want to know is what is available in my price range.

I value the opinions given as I have no experience with the vendors that have been mentioned.

I want to make the best informed decision when I make my next purchase.

Currently I have this pic only. We have a 501st event this weekend, so I will get a pic of me in armor and kilted.

I have 2 of the SWK heavy kilts, one in Black Stewart and one in USMC Both are very nice and I think the quality though not as great as my Gunn tank are very good. I would not hesitate to dress them up.
I can't speak for the USA kilts but for the price I believe that you can't go wrong with a SWK heavy.

Personally I have 3 Stillwater heavies, and 3 USA Kilts. If you can afford a USA Kilt, then I would say get one! They're awesome! However, Stillwaters are really nice for off the rack kilts. You can't go wrong. But there's nothing nearly so nice as a custom tailored kilt. Spring for the extra cash- you won't be disappointed.

I'd say that you're getting some great advice here. Your choice all depends on what you are looking for. I own SWK standards and heavies as well as a USAK off-the-rack. If you don't want to spend much and the SWK 24 inch length fits you, then by all means, go for another. However, this might be a time to check out the PV side of things too. Granted, neither of these options are like having a hand made, tailored wool kilt.

If you go with USAK, make sure that if you want to have larger belt loops for a wider belt, you choose that option. Also make sure you decide about whether you want the USAK patch on it or not.

Either way, you'll have a good affordable kilt that you can where anywhere.

    Happy hunting!

Here's a thought. Good price for a wool 'starter' kilt: $199.00 US for a heavyweight kilt that fits you:

Pete brought another thought to my mind... If you camp, you don't want an acrylic kilt! They burn... voraciously... Ask me how I know...

Neither the Stillwater Heavy, nor the USAK Semi-Trad are acrylic, but it is something to consider on other kilts.

I own 3 Heavies, and they are great for the money. I don't own a Semi Trad, but I own 3 custom made Casuals, which are much the same except velco inside of buckles, a they are also nifty.
