A good crash course for those who didn't (unlike us Brits) get the full information at school!
It mentions Akrotiri but looks like it missed out on one another Crown dependency on Cyprus!

I would also contest the reference to India gaining independence "by violence" though and so would Ghandi!

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

Unless they're referring to the Partition of India, which was anything but peaceful.

It was good but... haha
I am not sure if refering to Ireland (the island) as part of the British Isles is accepted form now.
I am glad someone else noticed a frail Ghandi looking menacing.

I'm not sure I'd say it in front of too many Irishmen, but I think it's still accepted.

O.K., that's just dead bang brilliant. What a great job of explaining something involving complex historical origins with great concision, organization, and clarity. And what an effective use of multimedia! Thanks so much for sharing that, Ron.
"Before two notes of the theme were played, Colin knew it was Patrick Mor MacCrimmon's 'Lament for the Children'...Sad seven times--ah, Patrick MacCrimmon of the seven dead sons....'It's a hard tune, that', said old Angus. Hard on the piper; hard on them all; hard on the world." Butcher's Broom, by Neil Gunn, 1994 Walker & Co, NY, p. 397-8.

Five minutes and 14 seconds to tell hundreds of years of history and geography. Amazing.
I bet if I practice hard enough, I could do it in 5 minutes flat!

Like Pence, Farthings, Shillings, Crowns and Florins - lots of history and more than a little complicated. Thanks. Very interesting.

They should have made that a little clearer if they had actually had this in mind.
Ghandi himself was never an advocate of partition, that was instigated by Jinnah but only once the principle of independence had been conceded. Ghandi tried everything he could to prevent it but was unable to persuade him to change his mind.
So it still wasn't accurate to picture Ghandi the way they did.
