I love the pictures! Looking at the living quarters on board tarnishes the romantic image of a seafarer's adventures and life on the world's oceans.

I love visiting old sailing ships. The Victory was one of my favorites. If you are ever back in Boston, there is a Shipbuilding museum there well worth a visit.
I especially liked seeing Scott's ship. A childhood Scottish friend (Marr)'s father accompanied Shackleton on one of his successful Antartic expeditions...back in the days of black and white.

I enjoyed this. If you're in Nor Cal any time soon, we should do a kilted excursion to the Maritime museum here, and the Balclutha and possibly the Alma.
When I was working for an outfit, quite a few years ago, called Spinnaker Sailing, I occasionally served as a deck hand on the Brigantine "Rendezvous". So I've had the unique experience of furling a square-rigged sail.

Until about 15 years ago I was a serving chief officer in the merchant navy. Note that officers cabins have'nt changed much at all in size or furniture......

Balclutha is impressive; the Liberty Ship Jeremiah O'Brien and the submarine Pampanito are also worth seeing.
