Thank you Paul. I mistook the zig zag joining stitches as a "pinked" cut edge because my screen is only 10 inches on my little travelling laptop. More clearly seen as red join stitching on my 23 inch desktop now.

Peter's Culloden reference means it must be at least 350 -400 years old, and his clue about "total" width means it is presumably joined along the long centerline from two pieces, but it also appears joined cross ways at least once along its length as well.

Again it appears to be something other than wool, lighter in weight, possibly cotton or linen. I am not familiar with the mostly white field with the clustered pink and blue stripes. 12 feet sems long for an airisaid, but not necessarily for something like a funeral shroud?
