Oh not again!!
I really do have to quit hanging around with you guys!!
If I remember correctly Josh, you are also to blame for that nice Auld Scotland kilt hanging in my closet!!
Assuming this is the same 16oz Lochcarron, and the price and turn around time is not too far out there, you can put me down for 4 yards double width.
Sleeping indoors and eating regularly are way over rated anyway right?

I'm having a bit of a personal struggle with this too. I really like it but bad timing for mee expendables I'm afraid. I'll have to put this one off for now.

Hi all-
So I have a price. If we can get a 20 meter commitment, then the price is 40$ a meter. Shipping for that amount would be around 200$. She asked if we wanted 13, or 16 OZ which leads me to think that maybe it IS NOT readily available and will be woven. I'll call today and find out more details on that. Anyway, there's the price which isn't too bad!

OK - committing for 4 metres DW. Where is it coming from? Over in the Cthulu custom-weave thread, the weaver is willing to cut and ship individual lengths by Royal Mail, which should sneak them in under the customs limit -- have you considered or investigated that possibility?

Hi All-
I just spoke with the owner and have the following detail. 16 OZ wool IS AVAILABLE for immediate dispatch. All in all about 80 meters are readily available. Individual shipping is also acceptable which is FANTASTIC. In order to get this price per yard, we need 20 meters at least commitment, so let everyone who might want to mull it over and look at Monday or Tuesday-ish as a cut off. I'll have my iPad next to me while I'm working, so any questions should be immediately answered-Josh

Sorry about this, but the missus has informed me that she has recently committed to spend $1800 on a new brood bitch (she breeds and shows whippets and does not have an intact female now) and as a result I am expected to pony up my birthday cheques tomorrow and any other money I have set aside for "silliness" to assist in her endeavor.
I regret that I must withdraw my interest. I regret many other things as well, but I do not regret living with my sons.

Josh
Figuring $40 a DW meter plus the shipping (another $10 a meter---$200/20m) for the 16 oz, also figure in the secondary distribution costs of cutting it up and sending it around to all those who buy in. Probably will run somewhere around $52-55 per meter in the end. That gives folks a more realistic expectation of costs. Make sure you ask them to drop the VAT (shipping out of the EU) and you may get a surprise further discount you were not expecting. Also hoping that customs does not hit you for their 12.5% I believe. I asked the shop owners to list it on the customs declaration as woolen upholstery fabric which is rated at only around 2.5% duty if I remember correctly. Nobody else needs to know what its true final use will be.
Both the 13 and 16oz (as well as the available 10oz) are woven by Lochcarron, but from talking to the owners months ago when I did I do not believe they keep significant quantities in stock and intermittently make single run orders of various lengths as needed. Took a couple extra months for Ron and I to get ours, and we only ordered 11 DW meters.
Good luck with the endeavor. I love this tartan's beauty as Ron does, it will be nice to be in a fairly exclusive club of DFT kilt owners. As this tartan is obviously less readily available than IOS or Maple Leaf I doubt it will ever rival those for popularity or frequency.

I don't know Jeff. When our Kilties see the plethora of Kilts (OK... five or six) that this thread will generate I'm inclined to think it may well "take off". IoS started from a similar position after all and I'm sure that XMarks had quite a bit to do with the sudden popularity of Kilts in that subtle sett.
I'm gutted I can't join in on this run but DFT is high on my wish-list.

Hey J-
Its confirmed that there is 80 Meters of 16 OZ material. They also have the Dutch national football tartan available as well (Wasn't so keen on that one, but nice none the less). She didn't seem to indicate any charge for cutting individual orders, but she did say thay could do it and ship independently through post to avoid customs on one big bulk order. I'm sure shipping individually will add at least 30$ to each individual order-But if you think about it-Sending in bulk would be about 150-200$. Customs charge I'm sure, so add 16% to total bill, plus me then cutting it and shipping another 10$. I think it actually works out better to have them cut and send individually. I've forwarded the link to the owners, so they may chime in here as well.
