CDNSushi's profile says he lives in Kofu, Japan which was relatively unaffected. Hopefully we hear from him soon.

My parents and my wife's parents were missionaries in Japan. My 82 year old father is still active there. He lives near Osaka, so I doubt much damage there, but waiting to hear from him. I spent 6 of my growing up years in Kobe and Tokyo. My wife, though "gaijin", was born and raised there.
My wife's family had a small, primitive summer vacation cabin on the coast near Sendai, in a missionary cooperative of sorts. She grew up spending summers there and has wonderful memories of the region. Our prayers are also with the Japanese. We are heartsick to see the devastation.
I pray all is well with you, CDNSushi.

Prayers for Cdn Sushi and for all of the people of Japan and other areas affected by this disaster and the others that have happened this year. It's been a rough one, and the "Prayers of the People" get longer at every service, it seems.

Looks like Sendai really got nailed, at least 300 dead. My very first trip to Japan, in JAN 87, was a military exercise in Sendai. . .

Oh my. Just watched some videos and as Jock says, words fail. While my thoughts and prayers are with the people of Japan, I'm now worried for my friends and family in California. Be safe all!

Outlook for California is pretty good on this initial round - it seems to be starting north on the coast and then rolling south, allowing time to disperse some energy before they get it.
Still praying for all the folks.

True, but my friend lives on the beach and my family member lives on a boat. Still worried.

Damn... I don't watch the news- I missed the pictures. Don't want to see them. Thanks for alerting me to this. My thoughts and prayers go out to them, too...
