There is a warning about delays on packages from the UK to the US on a website, I found it by Googling.

It is due to heightened security stopping certain packages.

We send items to the States fairly regularly and have found that some items have travelled as normal and others been delayed by several weeks.

I suspect it is a bit of a lottery as to which parcels are sent as normal and which are delayed.

    shipping

I ordered a book from Abe books, and it shipped surface mail from Scotland. It took a full six weeks to arrive. It may be because of the shipping method, or because it was a book, but I thought for sure that I had been hoodwinked. On the other hand, I have had hose orders and tartan swatches arrive in 10 days.

Australia Post now has a A$9.00 surcharge on posting packages to the USA due to extra security checks on the USA side. As I must pay for the extra security checks I would imagine that they happen and that these would hold a package up somewhat.

A buddy at work ordered a Prince Charlie jacket from Scotland over two months ago. It never arrived. The vendor shipped a replacement 2 or 3 weeks ago. It has yet to arrive...!

Yeah...tomorrow will mark the one month anniversary on my order. By the time that I get it (if I get it!) both of the events that I got it for will have passed.

Still, hope springs eternal and the ebay dealer has been more than accommodating. I'll post the dealer's name and details when the whole thing blows over...hopefully, by this Saturday so I have the accessory in question to wear to a black tie dinner.

It took from October to January for me to get a sword shipped from Cornwall to Texas. Roughly fifteen weeks. Both the shipper and I had given up on it and then it arrived.

    Auld Argonian:

As I'd mentioned in my previous post, I'm a few days ahead of you in the waiting. I've been in touch with the seller a couple of times, and he says he's certain that the delay is in US Customs, which is likely the case. He has assured me that he will refund my money in the event that the item never arrives.

My question is this: At what point would you (anyone chime in here) open a case with PayPal? I know I have 45 days to do so, but I don't want to take any action that would damage the seller's credibility unduely.

The seller has stated that he prefer that I not open a case, but give it a bit more time...

I'm inclined to give it 40 days at least... I figure if I open a case, I'll get a refund from PayPal, then the item will arrive, and I'll have caused the seller grief for nothing. (I've never found myself in this situation, and don't know the ramifications to a seller, or exactly how the process works...)

    What would you do?

    SM

UPDATE: Not 30 minutes after I posted this, my wife called to tell me that the jacket had arrived, but that the packaging seemed to have been damaged in transit... I'm hoping the contents are okay!
