Balmoral Help
Hi all,
Wondering if it's possible to restore life to an old Balmoral.
It seems to have flattened out.. and the question is can it be restored to its healthy lift again? From it's sad, saggy/floppy, no longer holding a shape state??
These belong to a friend's son who dances, and he's wanting to pass the old one on to a new younger dancer. ( nice gesture )
So is this possible? Can anyone point us in the right directions??
Thanks in advance.

You might be able to put some kind of starch in it or something? I have no idea... honestly, most folks want that saggy/floppy quality, and many go to considerable lengths to get it. 'round here, it's known as "Jocking".

Depends on if the wool is rotted or not. If not then you can find the thread on jocking a cap (I don't have it, sorry) and I am sure that would help.

I think that thread was called "Jock's new Balmoral". Jock might be the one to ask if that can work on an older bonnet.

I think it depends on the look you are after, I like the beaten up look myself, but whatever the "look" there does come a time when the "old friend" has to retire. Now, I think you like the more rigid look? Humm, have you tried the iron? Have you tried starch---hairspray----after the iron?

The older one will not look like the new one under any circumstances because it doesn't have the dicing. The dicing is kind of stiff and pushed the whole thing up.
But, the one on the left looks pretty good to me. I'd like to see it on someone's head. I like to floppy look as well, and that one does really look like it's worn out.
