I got my yardage in yesterday. 2 meters of double wide, 80x55".

Yes, UK members, for my wedding I must, save it. After the wedding I will take out the few stitches required and have a reasonable sized covering for the nupital couch rather than a miserable scrap.

So I originally pleated my cloth out on the cut edge, belted it on and then drew the 80" long edges up to my left shoulder. It looked great.

I double checked Matt's page, low and behold as published yesterday (03-21-2010) Matt is pleating the 80" edge under the belt and running the 55" cut edges up to the left shoulder. So I did it up that way, and it didn't look as much like Erskine's drawing as my first attempt.

So I am thinking I am going to put the belt pleats on the cut edge. But it is going to take me about 80 hours of work bench time to purl all four edges of 2 meters of double wide. I'll have to stop about halfway through and wait for the skin to grow back on my twisting finger.

Worse, I don't see an unfringed edge on Erskine's drawing at all, it looks to me like all four edges of the half belted plaid are either fringed or purled.

Has anyone else tried this at home? I am about to bring in a freaking case of Chimay Blue.
