I know a former Seaforth Highlander, who said he learned to 'seat himself carefully'.

I disagree with the whole underwear used to be worn idea. While in the Army as an Infantryman we did several 25 mile tactical roadmarches. The first walk, I wore briefs (against the advise of the Drill Sergeants) and it almost killed me! I had blisters and didnt walk right for a week. The second time at my perminant duty station I wore nothing "Regimental" and had no problems 25 miles down the road.
I would bet that the highlanders while chasing cattle/sheep all day saw many miles. To make matters worse, alot of those miles were probably in damp, rainy conditions. Ask any Infantryman what he wears while in the field or on road marches and 99% will tell you "BDU trousers".
As to the original question, when I first started wearing a kilt the sporran pushed the fabric against me and after walkin for a ways things got tender. I then learned the proper placement of the sporran. I sinched that booger up higher and have no problems since. You'll get used to commando soon and then shorts under the kilt wont feel right.

I am the assistant manager of a small grocery store and most of my coworkers are teenage boys. They talk like this all the time and I spend most of my time with them laughing. This thread has made me laugh so much the tears have flowed at times. Thanks, guys, I need this once in awhile.
I'm also with Nighthawk. I'm pretty straight laced (pun intended) most of the time but I love things that are disgusting and funny!

I work w/ a bunch of roughneck fellows and I am far from the worst. And I DO NOT talk like that in mixed company or in front of my wife(she would shoot me with my own gun)! You guys ever hear of ball-hanging? One of my favorite pastime activitys. Look up Navy tailhook convention for definition. "Hang 'em if you got 'em''!
