New Thrifty Kilt
Just got my new stillwater blackwatch thrifty kilt. I like it. It is for around the house and maybe a store run but overall a nice kilt for a great price. Can't beat it for a wear around.

Congratulations. Beware that there are actually two levels of kiltaddiction. You are at the beginning of the first stage, the "Oh, I'll just wear it around the house abit, maybe outside once or twice" stage. Then you will believe that you can keep a handle on this addiction, even going so far as wearing it out of the house more often as you deludedly think that you are in control. Then you will succumb to the second and by far, more dangerous level: Tank. Once you go wool there is no going back. I started this last year with a SportKilt and no sense of style. My early forrays out and about left many choking on their water as I passed, but I held my head up high as I "knew" that I was doing it right. Now I have two sporties and a tank, different sporrans and hose and can easily shift from mucking about to a semi-formal night out. My awareness of dress has changed a bit and I realize that I actually know quite abit more about being kilted than I did those few months ago...
I've found that most relationships work best when no one wears pants.

The Chief is right. For me it started with "special occasions" and once in a while when hanging out around the yard and such. Now, I've been forced to admit that I have a problem. Well, other people see it as a problem.

Ha! I am waiting for my first kilt to arrive Chief and I can see myself walking down that road. Nice to know what I have to look forward to.

quality of thrifty kilts?
I am considering buying one of the thrifty kilts in BW for my brother to wear in my wedding, and to give to him as a groomsmen's gift. What do you think of the look and quality of it? Other option is a kilt rental and I wasn't overly impressed with the quality of the kilts the only shop in my area, but I am not in a financial position to buy him anything nicer. Wish I didn't have to wear the rental PC for myself but no way I can justify the cost for something I might wear once every couple of years.

My daugther's father-in-law claimed my taking up wearing the kilt several years ago was a mid-life crisis. My wife laughed and said it may be, but if so it was both cheaper and less trouble than a little red sports car, or a little blonde mistress.

Personally, I prefer redheads. But I understand her sentiment.

I am lucky, my wife likes me wearing my kilt, even though I have little enthusiasm for lassies wearing trousers, especially if they have nice legs as my wife, an ex-dancer, does.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!
