You guys scoff, but 300 years from now there very well could be movies of camo kilted Scotsmen in some ridiculous reimagining of Braveheart or the Jacobite era (or more likely a remake of Bravo 2-0).

I remember the episode of Futurama where Fry and the gang went to some sort of 20th century museum that had cowboys wrangling dinosaurs, flying model-Ts, and all sorts of other anachronistic mash-ups similar to what we do today in period pieces of a sufficiently remote era.

If you guys can find a copy, there was a comedic/satiric sci-fi novel from the 1990s that had a lot of fun with the idea of 'future-anacronysims': the title was "Mallworld" (motto of Mallworld: 'we're the mall the size of a planet'). The author had an impossible name, so you'll know when you see it. I mean if you haven't already.

On topic, I'm not totally surprised to hear about somebody seemingly unaware of kilts. I have personally encounterd people that made the same claim, some of them had to be assured by third parties that I wasn't making the thing up.
