Doug, I actually picked up this USAK casual just for these runs. The velcro they use is tough stuff!!! You really have to try to get it undone. Had no problem whatsoever. Not to say that it can't happen, but I'm confident that you won't lose it. I think that crawling around the velcro is a better option than the buckles.
Saw a couple of SportKilts out there, too, and they're also velcro. No one seemed to have issue with those, either. But I doubt they cleaned up as well as this one!
