and to further satisfy the obvious lust for photos here here are images from the last medieval dinner. It was just a private gathering of two couples.
My friend is not into kilts, he is a bowman (archer) and is passionate about the whole Robin Hood thing. I wore a Tweed kilt I bought when last in Scotland 2009.

Great pics. Great shoes! I really like the kilt. Where did you get that sporran? (I'm looking for a casual sporran and am amazed at the possibilities and the wide range in prices)

Ah, yes. I can hardly wait until I die and leave myself an inheritance. Then I'll buy one of Robert's leather kilt, belt, and sporran ensemble. I really like his stuff.

A piccie as promised, the medieval feast was last night, it went well, really well. I found a technique of combining two halves of the kilt to reasonably simulate a true great kilt.
In truth, it may have been easier to do it right with just one length of tartan, however, there was a lot of dancing at the event so I was able to remove the top half and more comfortably dance in the little kilt.
Pictured with me, my wife and two friends from out local SCD group.

Further to post
The tartan is the "Braveheart" tartan, woven on the Isle of Islay from whence all good whisky flows by the Islay Woollen Mill. It was designed by owner Gordon Covell, a fine Yorkshireman and was based on a tartan pair of trews sent to him by Mel Gibson. The tartan was commissioned for the braveheart movie and woven there at the Woollen Mill.
This was my first experience at wearing the Feileadh Mor and I must say it was most agreeable, kinda feels like the hardcore end of kilting
When we left the even it had turned quite cold, I just pulled the tartan around my shoulders and was very toasty.
A wonderful and very practical garment, why don't all men wear this to this day?
