    Arrival of the Quaich

Below are some photos of the arrival of the Quaich in Australia from CDNSushi in Japan. The last photo is of some of the selection that may be used for toasting purposes, there maybe others of course.

    Downunder Kilt,

As you are in Melbourne is it possible that you may take the Quaich up to Banjo Patterson's country?

Gentlemen, I have just arrived home from two very full days with the Quaich. As some of you may know April 25 is Anzac day in Australia where we honour our armed services personnel who have served our great country through numerous wars, many who have made the ultimate sacrifice. The Quaich attended 2 Anzac day marches and services in country Victoria and an Easter parade at another historic country town in Victoria. Photos and details will be on the agenda first thing tommorow.

Steve, there is a good chance that the Quaich will visit the area where the film, The Man from Snowy River (a famous Banjo Patterson poem) was filmed

    Anzac Day

The Quaich made it's first public outing to 2 Anzac day parades and an Easter parade in country Victoria. The first parade was at Castlemaine, a town famous for its gold diggings in the 1800's.

The parade is lead by the Castlemaine Highland Pipe Band wearing the Chattan tartan and the Thompsons Foundary Brass Band

Old WWll diggers still wish they could march, but alas there legs find it hard to carry them. They are still very proud men and wouldn't miss the day for quids

Part of the younger generation who served their country

The Drum Major and one of the Bass Drummers of the CHPB form the Cenotaph Guard of Honour

After a chat with the Local President of the Returned Services League, I was given permission to place the Quaich in a place of honour in the Cenotaph

The cenotaph is surrounded by small white crosses honouring those from the local area who made the ultimate sacrifice in conflicts that Australia has been involved in

    more to come

Great pics, such a touching and poignant gesture to place the quaich at the cenotaph.
    Lest we forget.

The second Anzac Day parade was a much smaller affair which is indicative of many small towns in Australia. Although this town, Campbells Creek, is on the outskirts of Castlemaine, they have there own memorial and parade.

As it was a small parade the organiser requested that I take part as I was wearing my Uncles WWll medals and my own national medal, only too happy to do so

Once again the Quaich was allowed a honoured place on the memorial

    more to follow
