last minute casual wedding - kilted?

My own fault, a co-worker is getting hitched tomorrow and I've already cleared with him to wear my kilt on the big day. However, I question the formality as (typical with Florida weddings) the setting is casual, Cubavera shirts, and slacks if I remember correctly.

So... not wanting to upstage anyone, I was considering:

    1. White shirt, tweed-ish silk-backed waistcoat, brick red silk tie, Black Watch kilt, brown fur dress sporran (bronze cantle), red flashes/charcoal hose, and my black buckled loafers.

This is the sporran, shirt, vest, and tie... if you can imagine Black Watch instead of Black Stewart... and a sporran strap instead of a chain.

    2. Same as above but with my lovat green cable-knit hose (going to be really warm in those) and no tie, maybe my leather daywear sporran instead of my rabbitfur sporran.

This is the sporran, strap, kilt, and hose I'm talking about:

What say the Rabble? As I said, this is a fairly casual wedding but I still want to have a bit of respect for the kilt... wasn't planning on going to a wedding dressed like I'm pubbing.

Personally, I think that is the perfect outfit for a "casual" wedding. If it were me in the same circumstances, I would probably wear something very similar. Perhaps no vest, but then again, I like the look of a vest with my kilt as well. Also, I might wear my plain black leather sporran--but then again, I might wear my fur too (which is similar to yours). But I would certainly dress down the sporran before loosing the vest and tie. If that makes sense...

Ok - if it pleases the Rabble - This will be the way I arrange myself tomorrow.

From first pic: White Shirt + Vest and stowing the tie as a "just in case" but otherwise planning on *not* wearing it.

From second pic: Black Watch kilt, leather "flap" day sporran, sporran strap, green hose + red flash

Not pictured: my black leather buckle loafers (my only dress shoe).

I might even take a picture tonight as I assemble it for the wife's approval (she will not be present, but yes, I will still need approval).

It was going to be my suggestion to ditch the tie. Great idea to bring it along. I think you've struck a good balance with your final selection. If it gets too warm you can always take the vest off. From the photos, I like the look of the Black Watch kilt best as well.

I like #1 with no tie and different hose. Maybe a less formal sporran too. That's my personal taste though. Enjoy the wedding.

I wear a vest formally because I hate belts almost as much as I hate pants...

I wimped out. Well, not really... but...

    1. The groom is a 2x cancer survivor so he got married at a relay for life. This meant the dress code was more than casual, some people were in PJ's because they had been camping during the relay.
    2. My kilt was wrinkled and I didn't have time to press it. I didn't want to show up in sloppy kit.

So I went polo+pants. The groom was a little upset... "I told everyone you'd be wearing your kilt!"
