Modern fencing and historical broad sword are two very different animals... like compairing modern kendo with historical kenjutsu.

Is there a place to buy actual broadsword gear?
are you looking for swords or fencing gear that is made for broadswords?
for swords i'd look at http://www.medievalcollectibles.com/
I think they sell armor and padding as well
or
http://www.reliks.com/
but there you would be importing from Canada

Unlike modern fencing this is less of sport and more of a martial art. At least that's our aim. It'd be nice to see fencers take it up, especially those who work with historical rapiers, etc.

We use their rattan singlesticks currently. Their wooden wasters are supposed to be really superb.

Look and search for "Broadsword Academy" and you may come up with something. There wasn't anything in our area, so we started one up by using the Cateran Society videos on Youtube. Then they found us via facebook and invited us to join their group and their president has become our mentor and will be coming down in August to hold a Broadsword seminar.

It is great fun.
There are moments however, where you realize what would actually happen to your bestfriend had you truly landed that blow with a real sharpened blade.
