2011 Kentucky Scottish Weekend
Once again, it's time for the Kentucky Scottish Weekend.
When: Saturday, May 14 only. Gates open at 8 AM. Events run to 8PM.
Where: General Butler State Park, Carrollton, KY. Exit I-71 at Carrollton and go north about 1 mile. Park is on the left. (You can also find the location on the XMarks map).
Entertainers: Alex Beaton, Mother Grove, and Seven Nations.
Other events: Scottish Country Dance (exhibition), British Car Show, Highland Dance competition, Border Collies exhibition.
Opening ceremonies with massed bands around noon.
I'll be there acting as Pipe Major for the Louisville Pipe Band in the grade 5 (beginner) band competition that afternoon. (I'm actually Pipe Sergeant, but our PM is also a university professor, and they have commencement that day.) The LPB is pictured on the competitions page of the KSW website (tiny photo, but that's us about 5 or 6 years ago).

I'd like to come! We'll see what the future holds... We have a brand new little one (just over a month old) so the logistics of languishing about out of doors in the Mid-May heat are perhaps a bit much for us... But there's always hope!!

I wouldn't worry about "mid-May heat". There have only been a couple of years it's really been 'hot' there. The temps are usually fairly comfortable most of the day (a bit chilly in the morning). Most of the time it's more wet than anything else. Bring yer wellies!
As with anything outdoors, just check the forecast a couple of days in advance.

I just received our advance tickets in the post today (along with Lewis Kilt Hose from Matthew Newsome!). My lovely bride and I shall be there. We would love to meet all of you who plan to attend. Let's hope for a dry, seasonable day in Kentucky!
