Onward
I still have my Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment cap badge with its motto Onward. And that is the direction my life is taking right now, working on a real estate broker's license then going full time into real estate.
The result is that I do not have the time to properly devote to the moderation position and have requested to retire from this position.
It has been a wonderful 2+ years with much more good than bad times. I still believe this is not only the best forum on the internet, but that the general level of politeness and pleasant discourse makes it unique as well.
I will be leaving this post at the weekend, but not leaving the forum.

For those forum members who may not know, Brian became a Forum Moderator before I became the owner. Brian has a gentle firmness to his personality that was a huge help to me when, as the new owner, I was floundering around, learning how to program and run this site.
There is a joke among the staff that when I suggested something stupid, Brian would bring out his 2X4 and administer a sharp whack to my forehead. Just to get my attention you see.
Brian, you have been my friend, my mentor and my anvil. I have the highest and greatest respect and admiration for you. I will miss your wisdom and your gentle nudges. And yes, even those sharp whacks.
I wish you all the success possible. I know these past few months have been hard and I know that you did not step down without a lot of soul searching.
Please know that you will always have a place on X Marks and on the staff if you wish it. And know that I will always look to you as my friend.
