Thank you for that Downunderkilt,
As a youngster I was introduced first to the works of Robert Service known as"The Bard of the Yukon". Later I read my first by A.B. "Banjo" Patterson, "The Bard of the Outback".
Many of our members will know Banjo as the author of "Waltzing Matilda" and "The Man from Snowy River".
Both Service and Patterson were sons of Scottish immigrants. Both wrote (rather romanticized) tales of hard men living in harsh climates.
Paterson was second only to Rudyard Kipling in popularity in his lifetime.
If you don't mind I would like to print a copy of our Quaich at the Banjo Patterson Park and hang it in my shop.
