Okay I'll leave everyone alone about it. I found what I was looking for on shootingsocks.co.uk . They ARE the interchangable elastic ones as mentioned. Not what I thought. Got all excited and thought I found a deal on some real ties but couldn't find the site for sure to know. Now I know. Well, the British style shooting socks do make for some kick butt kilt hose though, right ?

Now this is more like traditional (for Caithness farmers) just as long as you remember to remove your flat cap for formal events.

Chris.
You do realise that there are some subjects in the British shooting world that make our "white hose and flat cap debate" pale into insignificance! In shooting terms wearing garters to keep up your hose is sensible, but having things dangling from your hose is regarded by some, as quite beyond the pale.

I'll second the opinion that once you try traditional hand knotted garter ties you will never go back to those elastic contraptions. The hand tied garters are so much more comfortable, especially if you are going to be wearing your kilt for any length of time. They also look pretty sharp too.

They do knitted real ties and extra long ones but only in pairs. I do not mind elastic so have ordered the Subdued - Burgundy, Blue, Rust, Green set.
No knitters in our family though so maybe I should learn.

I don't know what you guys are talking about...
First, let me say that I do want to get a couple of pair of real garters...I am a fan of the "traditional" and historic. That being said, however, I have never noticed a bit of discomfort wearing my elastic flashes. I made my flashes and elastic bands myself...and chose what I felt would be the most comfortable elastic...maybe that's the secret.
Regarding the ties...does anybody ever sell those things at Highland/Scottish games. I've been to two games now and have yet to see anything besides elastic flashes. I just can't seem to justify paying shipping for one or two pair of ties...wish I could pick them up in person somewhere!!

PM me your postal address and I will be delighted to send you a couple of pairs of garter ties. They seem to arrive un-asked for when I have bought shooting hose from time to time and I shall be glad to be rid of them.
