    Are you nuts man?

    I've had 6 bikes,5 of them road bikes,the biggest a 1200cc and currently a 1000cc yamaha yzf.

Had 5 accidents on roads,3 involving traffic,2 of those really serious. You want to ride in the kilt?

O.k so if you have even a minor spill, next time you want to wear your kilt, after the bandages come off and the massive scabbing heals, lets say for arguments you can still bend your knee to walk properly, your leg is going to look like some pshyco hit it with a blow torch and then let his pet crocodile chew on it for a bit.

    You're having a laugh,right?

I agree w/ the others here. While I may ride around town bare-headed and in a t-shirt, I dont think I would ride kilted. altho I admit to thinking about it,but then dismissing the thought.Rock Hard,Ride Free-but not that "free"!

It's a long time since I last rode a motorcycle. I miss it and want another! However, I rode motorcycles exclusively (i.e. didn't drive a car) for a period of about 12 years.

I would never ride with bare arms or bare legs, and that doesn't mean that I would consider gloves and socks to provide enough cover. Even in a heat wave I wouldn't do it, although a couple of times l rode without a shirt under my leather jacket. The problem with that is it makes the jacket stink, but it is far safer than T-shirt and no jacket.

A kilt does offer one major advantage when you get to where you're going, though. You can change into a kilt much quicker than you can change into a clean pair of trousers. I think that is the best plan.

My oldest son came off his bike yesterday - hit an oil slick on a corner. Bike is a write off, he's bruised and sore but otherwise OK. He will not ride without Kevlar lined jeans and jacket and full face helmet. Here's his jeans as evidence that you do not want to ride in a kilt.

I hit a pothole that bent the front wheel of my bike. In turn the front wheel being bent locked up in the break caliper. I tried to keep the bike up but I was on the highway going 65. I hit the curb and tumbled around. My bike hit me in the back of the head as it flipped over me. My head was then propelled into the curb face first. I was wearing leather motorcycle pants a fake leather (pleather) jacket. And a full face helmut.

The Aftermath? My helmut smashed from one earlobe to the other. My pleather jacket was in shreads I lost the sole of one of my shoes and my motorcycle pants were scuffed up. I had plastic shards and pebbles imbedded into my hand. I had severe head trauma neck trauma and my back looked like hamburger. My knees were dislocated and one of them had the cartilage torn. Lots of physical therapy and lots of scars. In fact I am still in physical therapy for my neck.

Would I ride in a kilt? H3LL NO!! I wouldn't even ride in a half helmut. If I didn't have a full face helmut I wouldn't have even been able to have a open casket funeral.
Bikes are tons of fun but they are to be used with respect.

PS. This accident happened 9-10-2001. That's right I watched 9/11 from a hospital bead.
