The garter ties are SOOO much more comfortable to wear. After Arlen posted his instruction about knitting garter ties, I showed it to my wife. She has now made me about 8 or 9 pair of garter ties. I'll never have to buy any more.
Lucky you! I get mine from Big Mikey, and I, like you, will never go back to the elastic ones.

Well, the British style shooting socks do make for some kick butt kilt hose though, right ?
Yes sir, they do! And they're nice and warm in the winter, too!

PM me your postal address and I will be delighted to send you a couple of pairs of garter ties. They seem to arrive un-asked for when I have bought shooting hose from time to time and I shall be glad to be rid of them.

I just checked on Ebay, and found this, the elastic set mentioned above:

Many of the shooting socks on Ebay, British made, come with matching garters. For example, the sock and turnover might be one colour, but the toe, heel, and a stripe on the turnover a contasting colour; the garters incorporating both colours:

    Hand woven garters

You might like to check out Jas Townsend & Son, Inc. They offer hand woven garters. Do a Google search for the site, and once you get on the site go to their listings of belts and bags, and then look for garters (GA-118). They offer different color combinations. You can pick your colors. They are $20.00 USD a pair. They are 38" x 1.5".

    Regards,

    Brian

I'm also one of those who will never go back. I started with elastic garters/flashes because I didn't know any better. But I bought traditional wool knitted garters as soon as I could afford them (they are pricy!). Aside from being more comfortable and looking better, I just like the idea of them being more 'old school'. Men have tied their garters for centuries, just like they tied their shoelaces. To me, wearing elastic garters is like wearing shoes with velcro closure. I shudder at the thought!
