I owned two for many years and basically traded up to USA Kilts and Utilikilts.
They are great for light wear, mowing the lawn, hanging around the house, but the lack of pockets (only 1) was always a drawback, since I didn't like the sporran design and i carry a lot of stuff in my pockets.
If you live in a very warm weather area they would probably come in handy because of the weight. The quality has always been very good and Mike Butler is great to talk to and work with and is very enthusiastic about the kilts.
If you want something a little more formal I would go to USA Kilts for about $20 more, but they are a great starter kilt if you are not sure if you are going to like wearing a kilt, since I think they are still less than $100.
