I am with you Bugbear, been reborn single for more than 10 years myself and no intention of changing that. But it is self-affirming to have an attractive gal express interest.

Ya, , it is nice to have someone flirt a little, more or less as a complement, but that's pretty much all I take it to be. I'm not sure I even pick up on the flirting so well, or it doesn't happen often.

For me, the committed single life means remembering the heartache that inevitably comes with relationships and doing the only thing you can do to avoid it.

everyone of my friends over the last ten years or so has ended up being married or in a long term committed relationship, about a year after make that same comment.

Dang, could not have expressed my own bitter sentiment about long term relationships better. And I am a hefty, older fella myself but trust me that does not rule out the invitations. I love getting the "Go signal" and choosing to ignore it. There may be lots of folks who would be surprised to learn that there are gents who do not choose to take that low lying fruit.
