    When I made a USAFR kilt for our daughter, I pleated it to the gold stripe:





    Depending on which gold stripe was chosen, you could produce a flash of light blue inside the pleats, although it would be set back a bit from the edge of the reveal. And it wouldn't be terribly dramatic because there are already the wide lightish blue horizontal stripes across the back.
