Tsk, tsk, and yet again tsk, what are you kids thinking with such an attempted hijack of thread. Returning to the original post, I reread. And I find myself musing. His hummers get viscous. This is a problem? I think that's just nature at work.

Hmmm, nectar viscosity might be an interesting subject.

    Bats are also interesting...
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

We just put up a Bat house this year too. I haven't seen any of the little critters entering or leaving it yet, but we see them flying around every evening.

Havn't seen any hummers yet this season, which is unusual for us, but the summer has just started. When my cyprus vine grows to the top of the fence, I guarantee hummers will show and inspect the flowers.

Bats? Just found one this week, on the ground in the side yard, alive, and acting strange. Called city animal control who inspected. Turns out bat was a mother, with 2babies hanging on to her for dear life. So she was stranded on the ground and in a panic. They gently removed the family to rehab, and release later that night. Kind of cool to see.

Wow, here in New York City I see bats every evening outside my house. I have no idea where they nest, but they've been on my block as long as I can remember.

Hmmm, now that I think about it, there is a church nearby with a belfry.
