Thanks for the suggestion, Bill did you read this too?
I have kept Steve informed while I was hosting it.
One thing I would like to see is to be able to search forum members by country (or is this already possible?) This way finding someone in an appropriate country would be easier.

If I may second the suggestion by Sushi. The idea of the Quest is to keep the Quaich moving. Try, as much as possible, when you first hear that the Quaich is heading your way, to start thinking who it will go to next. Then contact that person and perhaps a few more. OK, perhaps the timing is not perfect but we want as many members to have an opportunity to share the Quaich as possible.
I can think of Mike Ottle in S. Africa or Anciene Alliance in France would be the next in a westerly direction. Give them a PM.
Host and share the Quaich, post lot's of photos, pass it on. It will be back your way before you know it.

Graham, we were both posting at the same time.
If our members were listed by location perhaps we could search by country or locale. This is why we suggested that if someone wished to host the quaich that they make sure their location is posted in their public profile.
Sushi and I have our Lat/Long posted as you can see in the upper right corner of this post.

Thanks Steve, it has been moving - just not very far. If Bill doesn't see this I will call him.
Great work Steve, cheers.

My point is, if you simply wait for someone to come forward, it may take a very long time for the Quaich to get anyplace, as many people on this forum are a bit shy, exceedingly polite, and would not want to appear greedy or presumptuous by offering to be the next to take it. Another possibility is that many members may not be checking this particular forum regularly for updates, and therefore may be quite unaware that the Quaich is in need of a new host.
My recommendation would be to select a member whom you like, or whose postings you've appreciated in the past, or simply someone who looks like they might be a really cool or nice guy, and send them a PM, offering to send the Quaich their way, bearing in mind that it may even take 2 or 3 people to get someone who feels that they would be able to take on the task. If no one comes to mind, it may also be worth sending Steve or one of the mods a PM. Our mod team are very familiar with who the regular members and posters are, where they are located, and they could also provide a suggestion or two for where to send the Quaich next.
I hope that helps get the ball rolling a little, and for those who may be lurking here on this thread -- please -- don't be shy! If you would like to be a part of this project, make your voice heard. ![Razz](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_razz.gif) ith:

Yes I started posting before I even got the Quaich however group member locations are only sometimes listed which does not help. Last night was a hoot with Colin and I using it to toast the Melbourne Scottish Fiddle Club's wonderful founder Judy Turner on her retirement. Google them and you will see what they do and also see my Scottish grandfather's fiddles. During the next 10 days it will be at a variety of end of financial year and Tartan Day functions, it is a great time of the year to have it! Readers should contact me if west of Melbourne and wanting to share in its travels and the fantastic opportunities that it can open. By the way the Quaich log shows some great times were spent with it in Japan. My wife was over there Scottish Dancing just a few weeks back and we will have a Japanese lass with us tomorrow plus the Quaich at Scottish dancing.

Hi Steve,
I only heard it would come too me a week ago at the Portarlington Celtic festival so sought further locations the following morning. I have since posted Mike in Africa and will Anciene Alliance but I hope some people in Oz in the vast 2000 mile area west of me in melbourne will respond before it leaves this country. It is a wonderful thing which can be used in innumerable ways limited only by your imagination. Having it is also a great excuse to wear a kilt and have a wee drop in unusual situations!
