The photo was posted recently on a jewellery forum of which I am a member. The piper is playing outside the High Court of Justiciary in Edinburgh on the Royal Mile so I wondered whether it might be some sort of "official" tartan.
It is not dissimilar to the Royal Air Force tartan, but I don't think that is it.
Any suggestions gratefully appreciated.

Hi Minerva,

I am an Aussie guy with a sort of fetish for Minervas (autos that is) so I couldn't resist your post by replying with me standing in front of an immense 1932 one. They were one of the grandest cars of all time and they were the choice of Maharajahs, Royalty, US film stars but my car was new to the Cardinal of Chicago; I wonder how often he put the bowl around to buy it! I am pictured standing in front of it at this year's Australia Day parade, I had just marched with the Scottish contingent and had the car on show in the gardens. My kilt is the Royal Scottish Country Dancing Tartan. Where are you located?
