Jock .. it certainly is shifting along. If it keeps up this pace it should be able to visit everyone who has volunteered to host it and return to Chas in time for the final leg.

    Thanks for the Affirmation

Jock, Sincerely thanks for posting this. It was a very warm day yesterday, usually much cooler at the water but the wafts of interspersed breeze were the only relief. I feared that you might take umbrage at a kilt with a T shirt and no proper hose, and appreciate you did not. As I am not Scottish I take particular care not to do anything that might cause one to take offence. I shared your pics with Ben Nevis in the background with my wife last night and she enjoyed them.

Gosh, I did not give it a thought! Now that you mention it, all you are doing is adapt to conditions, just like any sensible Scot would do in the circumstances. The great thing is------and I mean it------that you know what is required should Scottish style weather suddenly arrive in your neck of the woods. LOL

I am delighted that your wife enjoyed my pictures. In a small way that is what this smashing project of Derek's is about, not only raising money for a great cause, but also a bit fun and enjoying parts of the world that many of us will probably never see.

    The Journey Of The Scarf

The journey of the scarf was briefly halted by the ineptitude of the US Postal service but is now rectified and well on it's journey to the next stop.

Prompted by Brooke's comment about the "mystery" of the next stop I provide a few clues: The next stop is situated in the western foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains. In March 2008, Fortune Small Business magazine named the city #44 on its list of "100 Best Places to Live and Launch" a business. The city was incorporated in 1974. In 1990 the town had a population of 6,670, and by 2000 that figure had increased to 29,700 residents and in 2008 it eclipsed 43,000. (Note all info here culled from the Internet, specific sources excluded to not let the cat out of the bag).

    Mystery Solved!

The scarf has made its' way to Arizona!

Here is the first of several pictures. That's Pusch Ridge on the back side of the Catalina Mountains in the background.

There may be a few surprises for the scarf this weekend, and then it will be off to the next volunteer.

These are giant saguaro cactus, located West of Tucson, Arizona in the Saguaro National Monument. Those little helpers are my daughters, ages 5 and 7. They both think the scarf is neat with the dragons.

By the way, in this picture, you'll notice the scarf is wrapped around my neck. Recall that this is July in the desert. It was 110 degrees F. Yes it was hot!

More to come later this weekend...

Great pictures, Jim I am so happy to see the scarf in Oro Valley. (The Post office thinks it is Long Beach Ca. ) I really like that you got the City sign for a photo. I had tried doing that but the best signs are in the median here, wonderful touch. Nice to include your daughters as well.
