As I said earlier when involved in a forum such as this, your horizons and knowledge of the subject is greatly enhanced. Many members must take encouragement about kilt wearing from the views expressed here and perhaps many of them would not be kilted unless they had come across X-Marks.
Logically then members like myself will experiment with various types of kilts and accessories, for many years I only owned traditional tartan kilts (I still believe that traditional tartan kilts are by far the best type of kilt to wear) but after reading many views and opinions from our members I bought solid colour kilts and of course the leather kilt.
I can safely say that if it was not for the diversity of the members on this forum, I still would only own traditional tartan kilts.
Having said this, staying and living in Scotland, the home of the kilt, basically the only kilts really accepted here are traditional and the solid black which is becoming really popular. A leather kilt certainly is taboo if you decided to walk along Argyle Street on a Saturday afternoon, I think you would probably need balls of steel to do this, therefore my wearing of the leather kilt is fairly limited to social events that are acceptable to this mode of dress
