Wow! I guess if you are going to wear something like that, wear it with confidence and style, as he certainly does.

I seem to always have a preference for the hose of the gentleman standing next to him, though. I can't tell if those are black or dark green, but I like the "dicing" on the cuffs, mimicing what is typically seen on a bonnet.

I agree with you Matt. The chap in which you are talking about is, Col. David Murray (also wearing a Cameron Highlanders Regimental necktie), who served with P/M Burgess in the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders. David can be see discussing the Highland bagpipe quite frequently, throughout the "Instrument of War" DVD series, narrated by Charleton Heston - superb series by the way - tons of Highland attire footage, beautiful scenery, not too mention, everything you would like to know about the Great Highland bagpipe (warpipe).

I really like these hose. I've seen horizontal striped hose, and the Duke of Rothesay has a pair with faint vertical lines, but nothing as striking as these.

I forwarded that photo to my wife, to get her comments. I didn't think she'd be a fan, but she emailed me earlier to say how great they were. Maybe a pair in my future!? :-)

These photos illustrate exceedingly well what I have said on several occasions: SOME people innately have what it takes to pull off choices that on 99% of the population (or more) would be horrendous and more. Mr. Burgess always looks perfectly at ease, but I will say most here would not be able to wear such without appearing eccentric (at best).
