WOW what a couple of day's
I think the scarf had fun here in Utah!
it traveled 200 miles total in the northern part of Utah.
with roughly 100 miles a day.
if all goes well it should head out to its next destination first thing in the morning so on to the pix
we had a early start to the day yesterday 6:30 am to be exact. so we could make it to the Scottish festival in time for the parade.

all day we looked for the other members that said they would be there but never did see any. we did spot the gentlemen just be for the parade in a heritage of wales tartan, and promptly got his pic with the scarf i guess the Utah Scots only have one banner watching the hammer throw. i will post alot more pix's from the festival in another thread
from there we left the festival to head back to Salt Lake City, For the REAL SALT LAKE vs fc dallas game...... ( note i am not kilted at this game. we had a blow out on the freeway coming back and it was driving down rain. the kilt got soaked while changing the tire. so it was laying out to dry at home my wife had been taking the pix all day, so i got her into the mix and since i decided to make this a family weekend of fun as you can see 12 hours after starting the day we were all pretty beat more to come

midday day two
On the south shore of The Great Salt lake is this building called Saltair.. given the nature of this forum i thought it a good place for the scarf to see
i wont go into the history behind this building but for those interested here is a link (i already read it and Wikipedia is right on this one) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saltair,_Utah and here is a link for pixs and history from 1893 to 1970. http://historytogo.utah.gov/utah_cha...bit/index.html
over looking the Great Salt lake
if you look close there is a few sailboat's on the horizon

from there we travailed 30 miles back south along the oquirrh mountains to the copper mine
when we got up to the mine, a storm was coming in fast and the wind gust's around 35 to 40 mph at the top edge of the mine, so the pix is not
that good
as there were familys there and i was more worred over my kilt blowing up ( mooned a family of 5 getting off the tour bus....... sorry if your a member here )
but my wife did get some other pix of the mine
those black dots you see midway up the pix, are the very large haul trucks, hauling stuff out of the mine. to give some perspective, here is a pic of my kids next
to one of the tire's those trucks use

You know, I've never taken a dip in the Great Salt Lake. I'm not sure why. Of course, I've heard it's more diluted now than it used to be.
After seeing photos of what Saltair I looked like, I have to say Saltair III looks kind of disappointing.
I didn't even know FC Dallas was playing RSL—or that there was a "Rio Tinto Stadium" for that matter—but then, I don't really follow soccer until the World Cup, and Guatemala has always been eliminated by then anyway.
By the way, I was in Edinburgh Castle (the store) a few years back. After asking the clerk about the Utah tartan and being told it was a restricted tartan, he told me there was a RSL tartan in the works, but I haven't heard anything about it since then.
