jumping on the bandwagon (kinda)
Hey gang!
Funnily enough, I didn't realise this particular thread existed - yet I've been dieting for my upcoming wedding now for about a month.
I'm using a low calorie & low carb meal-replacement system available here in Australia. 2 shakes (breakfast and lunch) with some high fibre food for snacks (usually an apple)... with a protein and veggie meal in the evening.
Over the past month I've dropped 5 kilo (approx 11 pounds) and 2 inches from around my waist and an inch from my chest (yes, I had to go back to the kilt hire place and get measured for my kilt again)!
I've also been hitting my (until recently) dusty home gym quite regularly... which is probably why I haven't lost as much weight as I would like - muscle weighs more than fat, after all. It's also why my biceps, triceps, pecs and quads are looking better than ever!
Still a very looong way till I look like Arnie - although that is not my goal! Currently I weigh 91 kg... that's 200.2 lbs in the old system. I hope to be below 90kg by the time I wed.
Keep up the good work, gang!

That's great progress Iolaus.
In the last few months I've manage to drop 10-12 pounds (depending on what day of the week it is), so I am still on a downward trend.

Gratefully,

Ha, leave them there for another day, then eat them. No better way to lose weight, no other method removes all body material equally so there's no flab afterwards. Stock up on gatorade type of things for the recovery period, though.
Seriously, Susan Powter has a good idea that you pick one day a week, and eat whatever you want that day. If you've been good, it won't matter.
My supersized buddy always says the doctor told him to get in shape. Buddy says he chose round.

That's what I've been doing. I figure one weekend meal out is a good reward for all the dieting. Of course, sometimes, that meal is hamburgers and side dishes at the in-laws extended family weekend get-togethers (every two or three weeks) ...not quite the reward I was planning.

Next update:
I've been fluctuating between 218 and 215 for most of the week. This morning, I weighed in at 215, after coffee, but I wasn't feeling well last night (went to bed early) and woke up several times drenched in sweat, so I'm adding a pound for water - call it an official 216.
I may be underestimating how much water I sweat off over the night, but the upper end of the spread is 2 pounds lighter than last week, so I'm happy with it.

I may be in trouble tomorrow though; it's our anniversary and I'm thinking about taking her out to Garlic Jo's (we're both garlic fiends). If I do that, I just know my willpower will be out the window! I don't think I've ever had a garlic dish I didn't like; give me a whole roasted head of garlic and a loaf of french bread, and I'm a happy camper!
Here's their menu: We'll probably get the special, that Garlic Grilled Salmon sure sounds good, and I'm sure she'll want the steak ....I wonder how good their Jambalya is ...or the Mushroom Parmigiano ...or the Shrimp and Chiken Gumbo...
