A suggestion was made that perhaps the ceremony could be recorded and put on a dvd for SPC Boyd. That's beyond my capabilities. Is this something that someone else could/would do? Do you think the media will be filming? Maybe we could just get him a copy of that.

Hi Dean,
That's a great opportunity for somebody to volunteer, and maybe even put it on YouTube. We could then link the YouTube video to X-Marks. Typically the news comes out and tapes a few bits and then leaves, rather than putting together any coherent record.
Anybody want to volunteer to be the videographer?
Cheers, ColMac

We Have Kilt!
USA Kilts semi-traditional in Black Stewart modern. Just delivered this afternoon. Paid the "rush" fee on it. Free shipping though, which was nice.
The lad was not tall enough for a Stillwater heavyweight.
Anybody found any musicians/entertainers yet for the "kilting" of SPC Boyd?
Cheers, ColMac

I've asked the Southwest Celtic Music Association for volunteers and have gone on other group forums begging for help. No reaction from musicians yet, although several other groups (including the Boyds) have said they're coming to help honor the lad.

Dean,
I'm sure somebody will come along. I'm just surprised that none of our X-Marks brethren have stepped up to the plate. Thanks for you continuing efforts.
Cheers, ColMac

Sorry I've been quiet, but I am needing to lay low on events for a while and focus on some other things at the moment, so I won't be attending. Plus, as I mentioned in the other thread, my fiddle playing isn't up to par for anything like this anyway. I tried to get the word out to some of the musicians I know, but I don't know if they'll be up for it.
Good luck with this.

Dear Cynthia,
I hope you know that I didn't have you in mind when I wrote that. You are an enthusiastic X-Marker and a valued friend among the rabble.
Ciao, ColMac

I figured that was the case, but wasn't sure and decided to at least reply. A lot of my friends assume I'm better than I actually am, so I wanted to make sure you guys knew I'm definitely not up to performing (I don't even do sessions... mostly play on my own). I do wish I could be more active with gatherings and stuff, but I'll get back to things soon. I do hope you're able to find some musicians to play for this event and I'll try to figure out a way to get the word around to some of the folks I know.
