That is a sound idea Matt. I'll take it to rest of the moderators. As the original poster I really would like to keep this one as well.

Lady Chrystel and I are very happy to see this thread back again.

It's also nice to be able to add a few comments. For example, about the way the flashes are worn, the waist jacket cut, the epaulettes less jackets etc.

An educated thread for well educated Xmarkers.

If some posts cause problems they sould be deleted. But for good taste's sake, lets save this precious thread.

This is a really worthwhile thread.

There are a lot of pictures of the Prince in kilts. Obviously, at least from the pictures, he wears kilts on a regular basis. (Maybe he should be a member of XMTS.) But, how frequently does he wear a kilt, and for what occasions? The precedent seems to go back to when he was young for family pictures. How often is he seen kilted?

In Scotland he wears the kilt quite frequently, more so in the Highlands of course.

What I find interesting about the majority of the day wear outfits Prince Charles wears is that he uses black shoes and brown sporrans (and looks good doing so).

Here on XMTS since I have been here the general rule has always been to match your leather accessories.

I wonder what the majority of Scots do?

    Cheers

Yes ! I've also noticed this from the beginning...

I wonder if this would work the other way around... Black sporran and nice brown shoes.

I guess there would be the "safe way" of doing things wich would be to match everything including silver with silver and gold with gold...
...and perhaps a more "daring way" wich would require some panache (no pun intended) and originality (this may include personal family traditions) .
My wedding band and family ring are both silver and gold; I have brooches that blend both pewter and brass... A clue to solving this dilemma would be to use quality accessories... and a fair amount of good common sense.

I can't say that I have ever noticed, much, about matching shoes and sporran, I wear black brogues with a black sporran simply because that is what I have and I see no real reason to change. The convention probably says they ought to match, but I doubt that anyone pays too much heed to that.

I wear this combo "in the field" at games; my black Freelander sporran with Brown Oxfords.
