Noticed this thread a while back and remembered a few days ago when I had camera in hand...

For several years now I've worn just this one, made by Nicholl Bros Bankfoot shortly before they went belly-up (a real pity as they had been in business since the 1840's).

But then I bought this beautiful old cantle (affixed to a modern sporran) on Ebay:

and switched it to an old sporran:

Not too good of a picture(my camera died, and all I currently have is my phone), but here is my newest, with a matching belt.

Here are the ones I have so far. From left to right they are my Buzz Kidder, my hair dress sporran, upper right is one I bought in Edinburgh, and bottom right is the "Franken-sporran" I made a few weeks ago.

Thistledown, you have a very nice collection of sporrans. I especially like the one with the brass cantle.

Thanks, Jim. The one with the brass cantle is my work and a mimic of one worn by my g-grandfather and now worn by my cousin. The nice thing about finely made things passed down from generation to generation is that you can copy them and then everybody gets to share One of the newest I showed is an L&M Canadian beaver and exceptionally well made. I've another beaver pelt sporran that's about a hundred years old now and the L&M will likely have an even longer life in the family. My newest is a Britt Glen Shira Mor. What I expected is something like this pic, ripped from the Tartan Museum site; what I received is very fine -- soft, supple, senuously oily leather -- but far, far darker than this one. Almost black, if you can picture that.

I really like the sporrans Ryan and Thistledown have, 18th century style, but it appears to be all-leather, with in effect a leather cantle instead of the usual brass cantle. And Ryan's waistbelt buckle is fantastic- looks to be right out of the 18th century as well.
