40 knot winds from the SSE have built the seas to 20'. On our marks, we have about 3.5' freeboard. We were not able to safely offload our deck cargo to the rig yesterday morning so we are taking it for a little boat ride as we run weather patterns till this all calms down. (Tuesday afternoon sometime?)

All of the deck load is chained down, and most of it is till where we last put it

The seas awash on our decks are starting to rip up deck boards, and we are down one radar. . .

Albuquerque only got about 3 inches of snow yesterday and the day before. But out on the plains, 200 miles of Interstate 40 from Albuquerque to the Texas state line is closed. 4 to 10 foot drifts with wind polished ice underneath.
West Texas is dealing with it also.

Here, the two fast lanes of I-40 through town and the Walmarts are semi truck parking lots and the hotels are full. Hoping to reopen I-40 this afternoon.

I did mention that it's been a long time since he last El Nino year.

UPDATE: Prayers for the people who got the tornados and flooding from this system out east.

The wind has veered to the NW and calmed. Seas are still 12'-15' but have laid down from the peak of 22', and will hopefully continue to calm. Finally getting the 261 joints of pipe and other deck load off to the rig. Good thing, too, as the weather is supposed to pick up again on Wednesday evening.

That amount of snow you see is as much as we ever get, as much as we ever have got here, so close to the ocean as we are.

Temps have been below our average for this time of year, and quite chilly for us, getting down to near freezing at night (I know, cry me a river) and up into the 50s and 60s during the day.

Storm Frank is now brushing by the UK before heading to Iceland. Offshore it has hurricane force winds but the mainland is only expecting 70 mph winds. The oil rigs to the west of the Shetlands are showing 90mph!!
More importantly the areas of north west England and southern Scotland are forecast up to another 5 inches of rain today. These areas have already been hit by 2 other storms in the last couple of weeks and are suffering major flooding.

As for here in my bit of Norfolk its currently gusting 38 mpg with winds of 60 for later. The ground is saturated, I tried some digging in the garden yesterday and its just a sticky muddy mess. More heavy rain is forecast for us but that's not a problem just annoying.

Oh my look at that - its raining again.
At least it is consistent.

There's a bit of the fey in my mother's family, her mother was considered psychic - my sister, my brother, myself and all the relatives live in houses either way up on hills or - if in York - have been a foot or so above the highest point the water reached so far.

When house hunting I was shown properties overlooking water meadows or freshly built on obvious flood plains. I declined them. This place is on a ridge - we've had a bit of wind damage over the years, but the danger of flooding is probably zero, even if both poles melted.

The temperatures are unseasonably high, which is fortunate with everything saturated as it is.
