Good luck Ron!
I really think you handle it very well....I just hope "they" will do the same in the near future.
Take care!

Ron, you have really shown an amazing amount of class, patience, and grace. I've really been working on "achieving more grace" in my life, not letting my natural tendency to anger easily run me anymore. Reading your comments here (and reading between the lines about how you are fighting more than just this kilt thing right now) really pumped me up. Your "clients" are lucky people to have you in their lives.
Best,

It sounds like rationality is winning out so far. Here's hoping for a good final outcome.

How did it go? It went well.
The CEO didn't show up or call for the meeting scheduled between my clinical supervisor, myself, and the CEO.
So my supervisor and I gutted it out ourselves. Another 75 minutes of gut level, eye to eye, honest communication.
I wore pants again today. She asked why since she'd said kilts were okay. Told her I wasn't sure she'd remember. Real reason was I didn't want kilts to distract from the core issues at hand.
Kilts were not an issue in that meeting. But the honest communication cleared up a lot of conflicts between us.
Not long after she came downstairs to the clinical area very excited. Not only had we won the contract with the prospects we met with Tuesday that brought the kilt issue to a head, they had referred an employee to us with the specification that the employee be assigned to my caseload.
As staff gathered to celebrate winning the contract someone said to me, "Ron, why are you wearing pants again?" I responded that I'd be kilted tomorrow and Friday for St. Patrick's Day.
My supervisor looked at me and said, " Ron, you can wear your kilts to work any time you want to."
So, still no clue if a dress code will be developed for the agency someday, or what it may entail. But for now, the new supervisor who had made an issue of kilts is won over.
Not at all a fun process. I am physically and emotionally drained by it.
And dang, two days in the tyranny of trousers is plenty to remind me why I love wearing kilts.
Thanks for all the support and suggestions. Is this a great board or what!!??
