Today, I went to a Celtic Festival at an Episcopal Church. Beer was served on the outdoor grounds, but no one questioned my choice of underclothing to ensure the propriety of the occasion or the sanctity of the venue.

It's tongue-in-cheek, but makes the point. It doesn't even refer to kilts, skirts, pants, male or female.
As Jamie points out, the onus is on the customer to keep things private.

...that doesn't mean I don't find the question from the bouncer offensive. However, those in the forum who actually know me as a real person and not a username and avatar know that I wouldn't be at a place that has a bouncer in the first place.
My concern was what seemed to be a call to arms. It reminded me of the movies where all the townspeople grab their torches and pitchforks and head for Frankenstein's castle to kill the monster.
My other concern was when someone compared this to racism. What you wear is a choice; the color of your skin is not.
I agree.
Anyway, this is the end of what I have to say on the matter.

See if they had that, I never would have had a problem!
But then again, if they had that sign I never would have joined XMTS. Bit of a paradox there.

But it still implies a prejudgement on the part of the security guy unless he were to point it out to all patrons whether male or female, kilted or not.
Even if I were to turn up clothed in conformity with the notice I would still be offended if I was singled out for this to be brought to my notice on the grounds that I was wearing a kilt whilst ladies and trousered gents were allowed to enter unchallenged.

I have never been very talkative, but I joined this forum for much the same reason back in '04. In my case it was to find a place to rant about a much discussed (and not good discussion) merchant. Now I've been here for going on 5 years and have over 2000 posts. The site grows on you, and even if you don't post a lot, you keep coming back.
