I'm a Cunningham but the only tartan I get to wear, since I only have the one kilt, is Burnett, which is on my mother's side of the family. It was on sale. I would like to get a Hunter modern kilt along with a Cunningham modern or dress.

I'm a Young by family ascendence.

I am saving for a Young Modern and a Weathered.
I am saving for a Roxburgh District (Young seat)
I do have a Douglas (Youngs were their sept)
I do have a Black Watch and a Black Stewart (somewhat universal)
I do have a Leatherneck, just because it was my first wool.

These will do it for me, no need to have more.

I could, however, see a case to get a Cochrane, or a Cumming or a MacKay(+Sutherland + Robertson). (All those related to Chile)

    re

I have no clan at all. Both my kilts are completely nameless plaids but nice sharp looking designs. I really like the look of both of them.

This year I want to get material to make a welsh national. Next up would be a german heritage tartan.

I have family connections to MacQueen, Patterson, Galbraith, and MacDonald Lord of the Isles,
but I prefer Fowler (STA: 7747, SRoT: 5728) - especially since I had made a custom weave of 33 yards (double width).
(a portion of which will soon be turned into an 8-yard kilt)

My Tartan Is Who I Am

My first tartan was Bermuda Blue Plaid, purchased on my honeymoon. I'm divorced now, but I still wear it when my other tartans need cleaning. Some day I'll sell it to a good home. My second tartan was Black Watch, a good universal tartan for when I'm working at the local Highland Games and out of respect for the Black Watch and its ties to the roots of law enforcement. My last tartan was Munster Province of Ireland which is where we think our ancestors are from. I love its colors and its pattern and the fact that it's Irish.

My next tartan will probably be Irish National or Shadow Green. BUT if I had a clan (Scottish or Irish) that had it's own tartan, I would wear THAT tartan, no matter how ugly it looked on its own or how ugly it looked on me. One day when we know which Barry branch or which McMahon branch we are, then I'll take up the tartan for that family, maybe O'Brien, or that county, Cork or Kerry. My tartans say who I am. "The blood is strong".
"Bona Na Croin: Neither Crown Nor Collar."

I have a MacGillivray Modern Tank - Clan

    Other Clan Tartans I want:
MacGillivray Hunting (Good Fall Colors) - As a Great Kilt
    Chattan - Box Pleated

I have seen many tartans which I love, but for me I want MY tartans first.

My ancient relations were MacAlpines and MacDonalds. I'd say my favorite tartan is MacAlpine Modern. See my avatar.

I also hail from the MacAlpin family, although my proofs only take me back to FitzHervey of Ravensworth.

I like this tartan I designed, it will be properly registered as soon as my finances allow. I like it a lot, if I do say so myself ;-)
The spirit of the Declaration of Arbroath (6 April 1320) abides today, defiantly resisting any tyranny that would disarm, disperse and despoil proud people of just morals, determined to keep the means of protecting their families and way of life close at hand.
