The kilt I made for the F-H. C.A.G. hasn't melted, either! 'course that one was wool/polyester.
excuse my ignorance...what makes a throwing kilt different? as for length....thinking the length at "The Fredericksburg Pub" in Fredericksburg VA is about right... more or LESS!
